“What is the one thing common to every:

Individual
Team
Family Organization
Nation
Economy
Civilizations throughout the world

If removed, it will destroy the most powerful governments, the most successful business, the most thriving economy, the most influential leadership, the greatest friendship, the strongest character, the deepest love.”

“On the other hand, if developed and leveraged, that one thing has the potential to create unparalleled success and prosperity in every dimension of life. Yet, it is the least understood, most neglected, the most underestimated possibility of our time” – Stephen M.R. Covey

Trust

Today we are in a crisis of trust. According to the “Edelman Trust Barometer 2011 Annual Global Opinion Leaders Study,” participants were asked, “How much do you trust business to do what is right?”

The response was alarming as the U.S. “trust rating” plummeted eight percentage points – running dangerously close to Russia.

A New York Times columnist, Thomas Friedman, states: “The World Is Flat, this new “flat” economy revolves around partnering and relationships. And partnering and relationships thrive or die based on trust.”

“Without trust, there can be no flat world, because it is trust that allows us to take down walls, remove barriers, and eliminate friction at borders. Trust is essential in a flat world… The ability to establish, grow, extend, and restore trust with all stakeholders-customers, business partners, investors, and coworkers – is the KEY leadership competency of the new global economy.”

We have contemplated the true meaning of trust and have defined that it is the underlying component to our success. Our customers can “trust” us to deliver value and do what we say we are going to do when we say we are going to do it.

“Transcendent values like trust and integrity literally translate into revenue, profits and prosperity.” – Patricia Aburdene, Author of Megatrends 2010

A trust-based relationship is formulated from 4 key components that drive our company and define our value system:

1. Integrity

“I look for three things in hiring people. The first is personal integrity, the second is intelligence, and the third is a high energy level. But, if you don’t have the first, the other two will kill you.” – Warren Buffet

2. Intent (AKA What is our agenda?)

“In law a man is guilty when he violates the rights of another. In ethics, he is guilty if he only thinks of doing so.” – Immanuel Kant

3. Capabilities (AKA Do we have the skills, people and capacity to deliver on our promises?)

“Capabilities are essential to today’s changing economy, where technology and globalization are outdating skill-sets faster than ever before. The half-life of our current knowledge and skills is much shorter than it has ever been, and suddenly someone who was very competent and even had a great track record in yesterday’s world may no longer be competent in today’s world.” – Speed of Trust, Stephen M.R. Covey

4. Results (AKA What is our track record?)

“You can’t create a high-trust culture unless people perform” – Craig Weatherup, Former CEO PepsiCo
